Danny’s Value Play: Modern-Classic Porsche

This month I want to talk about one of my favorite modern classic Porsche models. The 2010-2013 Porsche 997.2 Turbo!

The 997.2 Turbo was the first generation to have a direct fuel injection engine, which offered increased power and fuel efficiency over previous models. It resulted in 500 HP and could easily be capable of 100 more with a modest ECU tune-up.

It was also the first to have the PDK Paddle Shift Transmission available in a turbo. Gear changes with the PDK take place within milliseconds and enabled a level of response not previously possible.

With that said, a lot of driving enthusiasts still like to stay away from anything resembling automatic or semi-automatic transmissions. The 997.2’s also came in manual for those who preferred a more engaging drive. They were the last manual 6 speed transmission turbos manufactured by Porsche.

The 997.2 is still incredibly reliable and has amazing build quality. It keeps the timeless shape of the Porsche classics and offers an extremely comfortable ride with all-wheel drive.

The only problem with the 997.2 Turbos is that they’re hard to find. These are rare cars. They’re highly collectible and sought after.

With a little bit of digging, though, some nice examples with under 20k miles can be had for $60,000-$90,000.
